When you have tried it all before and nothing works

Live in the present!  Yes it is hard to do. And very difficult for First Born children.

If you have tried getting organised and it has not worked in the past then take my "Makes Me Smile" test. Go around the room and pick if ten items. One by one look at and touch the items. If the item is one that keeps you living in the present and creates happy feelings it can stay. If the item is only hanging around because it is linked to past memories let it go. Wait? No. Grab a black garbage bag and place the items in there. Similarly, if the item you pick up does not give you positive feelings and it is only in your hand because one day you (or a neighbour/friend/family member) "might" need it then place it in the bag. Keep going!! Fill that bag. And one or two more if needed!! Now do not delay. Take it and place it in the boot (trunk) of your car. Turn on the engine and drive to your nearest Donatation Bin/Centre like Vinnies or Salvos or your the favourite Goodwill of your choice.

Carry out this process every day! Go room by room. Start with smaller items and then delve into draws, cupboards, sheds and tool boxes. You will feel so good you will be ready to pass on your antique wardrobe and your Wedding dress.

Of course you could make money selling some of these items.  But if you are paid a good wage then why waste your valuable time. If you calculate the time you spend replying to 17 comments/emails and all the running around involved to earn $25 for your old spoon collection is it worth the money you made? Instead, give your items away knowing that they will go to a great new home;  the donation centre will earn money to help someone in need;  and you will move forward into the exciting new future awaiting you because of the lack of clutter in your life!

I have done it and the rewards are wonderful.
